Hundreds of Israeli Settlers Storm Al-Aqsa as Access Restrictions Tighten
According to reports, 593 settlers entered the compound through the Dung Gate, also known as Bab al-Maghariba, on the second day of the holiday. The entries took place during separate morning and afternoon periods under the protection of Israeli forces.
The number was initially reported at 480 before being revised upward to 593.
At the same time, Palestinian access to the holy site was significantly restricted. During dawn prayers, Israeli authorities limited entry to Al-Aqsa through only the Hutta and Chain gates.
Additional restrictions were imposed on the ages of Palestinians allowed to enter. Soldiers stationed at checkpoints reportedly declined to clarify which age groups were permitted access.
The measures prevented many Palestinian worshippers from reaching the mosque, while those who managed to get close to the compound were forced to perform their prayers outside its gates.
