Kuwait Arrests Four in Sea-Based Infiltration Case Linked to Iran’s IRGC

(MENAFN) Kuwaiti authorities announced Tuesday the arrest of four individuals said to be connected to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps after they allegedly tried to enter the country by sea.

According to statements carried by state media citing the Interior Ministry, "During interrogation, the infiltrators admitted that they belong to Iran’s IRGC."

Reports said the suspects confessed to attempting to reach Bubiyan Island aboard a rented fishing vessel as part of a mission involving what officials described as "hostile acts against Kuwait.”

The ministry also stated that one security officer was injured during confrontations with the group.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry later condemned the incident and said Iran bears the "full responsibility" for the alleged operation.

Regional instability has continued to intensify since the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, prompting retaliatory actions by Tehran against Israel and American allies in Gulf states, alongside the shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz.

A ceasefire brokered through Pakistani mediation came into effect on April 8, though negotiations held afterward in Islamabad failed to secure a permanent settlement. The truce was later prolonged by US President Donald Trump without a defined expiration date.

According to reports, Iran delivered its reply on Sunday to a US-backed proposal aimed at ending the conflict through Pakistan, but Trump rejected the response, describing it as "totally unacceptable."
