Iran Warns of Strong Response to Any Escalation Amid Tensions with US

(MENAFN) Iranian officials have issued sharp warnings suggesting a firm response to any perceived aggression, following renewed tensions after US President Donald Trump rejected Tehran’s latest proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, according to reports.

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf stated in remarks shared on social media that the country’s military forces are prepared to respond decisively. He wrote, “Our armed forces are ready to give a memorable lesson to any aggression,” and added, “Wrong strategies and wrong decisions always produce wrong results. The whole world has already understood this.”

He further cautioned that Iran remains prepared for “all options,” warning that opposing sides “will be surprised.”

In additional comments, Qalibaf emphasized that there is no viable alternative to what Tehran describes as its proposed framework outlining Iranian rights. He argued that any delay in addressing the situation would lead to continued setbacks for the opposing side, adding, “The longer they drag their feet, the more American taxpayers will pay for it.”

Separately, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi criticized US-led diplomatic efforts related to a draft proposal at the United Nations Security Council concerning the Strait of Hormuz. He argued that such initiatives, supported by Washington and some regional partners, are intended to misrepresent what Iran calls external military pressure and restrictive measures.

He also stressed that maritime freedom should not be selectively interpreted outside the framework of international law, stating that any approach ignoring military pressure, naval restrictions, or ongoing threats would lack neutrality and legitimacy.

Gharibabadi added that any proposal concerning the Strait of Hormuz that fails to reflect Iran’s position or address its security concerns would be politically motivated and unlikely to succeed.
