Ukraine Reports Casualties, Energy Infrastructure Damage in Russian Strikes

(MENAFN) Ukraine’s Interior Minister said Monday that Russian attacks across multiple regions have killed 14 people and injured around 60 others since the beginning of the day, according to statements shared on Telegram.

He reported that Russian forces carried out more than 70 shelling incidents across seven regions of the country, with the city of Merefa in the Kharkiv region described as the most heavily affected area.

The minister also accused Russia of continuing strikes against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, saying facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions were targeted in what he described as deliberate attacks intended to pressure and intimidate civilians.

Separately, Ukraine’s state energy company Naftogaz said that five of its facilities were struck over the past 24 hours in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. The company said damage to equipment forced it to halt production processes and warned that the destruction is complicating preparations for the upcoming winter period.

Russian authorities have not yet issued a response to the claims, and the reports have not been independently verified due to the ongoing conflict, according to reports.
