US Missile Targets School, Sports Hall in Iran’s Lamerd
Officials cited in local media indicated that the attack resulted in the deaths of at least 21 individuals.
Based on assessments of footage and images from the aftermath, experts suggested that the weapon involved was the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), a short-range ballistic system created by the US Army. The missile is designed to explode above its intended target, releasing small tungsten fragments that spread outward and cause widespread damage.
Specialists noted that the destruction observed at the sports hall, school, and surrounding residential zones aligns with the known effects of the PrSM system. According to reports, a US official also confirmed that this type of missile was used in the strike.
Additional analysts provided their evaluations of the weapon’s deployment. "While we knew PrSM was fired, this is the first look we’ve gotten at the business end of the system,” said Jeffrey Lewis after examining visual evidence from the site.
Another expert, Frederic Gras, supported this assessment. "The pattern of fragmentation damages are impressive and match with the few technical information available on the PrSM," he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Tim Hawkins stated that US forces "do not indiscriminately target civilians, unlike the Iranian regime."
